The business
NEVERCLOSED
Konbini Seven sells a little bit of everything, at every hour, to everyone who swore they were only stepping out for five minutes. You can find food, drinks, DIY supplies, emergency fixes and some object bought on impulse whose purpose will become mysterious once you get home. In a city where the night never ends, the store simply decided its opening hours would not end either.
The shelves are packed with ready-to-heat meals, cold drinks, snacks, batteries, magazines, small electronic games and products no one was looking for until they saw them. The goal is simple: make a ZOZO CITY resident who came for one thing leave with a bag heavy enough to question their memory. Konbini Seven calls it convenience. The register calls it average basket value.
Behind the counter, employees take turns maintaining the sacred promise never to close. Management calls it permanent service and an establishment always available to ZOZO CITY residents. The employees say much less, mainly because they are saving their energy. At Konbini Seven, everything is open forever. Except perhaps the possibility of getting home early.
