Léonard Zaroo is ZOZO CITY’s Founding Father, builder of the city, guarantor of its unity and chief witness to his own greatness. The archives say he imagined everything, organized everything and probably held the ladder during construction. Unfortunately, the names of everyone else involved were placed in a file so secure that no one has ever found it.

Deeply humble, Léonard rejected the cult of personality. He only accepted statues, official portraits, national ceremonies and a discreet appearance on the country’s largest banknote. His advisers called it historical recognition; he preferred not to interfere with a movement so spontaneously mandatory.

His doctrine rested on three values: unity, so everyone would walk in the same direction; sovereignty, so he could choose that direction; and prosperity, so the survivors would thank the leadership. The 1,000-Zen banknote therefore does not celebrate one man. It simply reminds everyone, with every large transaction, whom they should thank.
