Justice in very private service
Kalvin Makong is ZOZO CITY’s Keeper of the Laws. He does not write all of them; that would be undemocratic. He merely suggests which ones should exist, whom they should protect and what time embarrassing case files should catch fire. Under his leadership, justice has never been more independent: it knows exactly whom it depends on.
His integrity is legendary. No bribe has ever changed his mind; certain donations merely speed up his thinking, improve his listening and give a case file a window seat. Kalvin refuses to call that corruption. He prefers ‘judicial patronage,’ with a receipt available upon request.
He passionately defends equality: rich or poor, anyone can lose a case. The rich simply have the courtesy to give notice before the verdict. His portrait on the 500-Zen banknote celebrates a lifetime of service to the law. The grateful law has never filed a complaint.
